Best surf beaches
El Médano (south-east) is the most consistent and beginner-friendly. Las Américas (Playa de Troya) has reliable beach-break surf and lots of schools. Playa de las Palmeras and Almáciga in the north handle the bigger swells.

November–March brings the biggest north-Atlantic swells; April–October is gentler, warmer water and ideal for learning.
