Hidden Beaches in Tenerife

The wild Tenerife the brochures don't print: coves reached by dirt track, sea caves, turtle bays and beaches that empty out at 5pm.

Six to seek out

El Puertito (turtle bay, west coast) — kayak or 30-min walk from Playa Paraíso. Diego Hernández (Costa Adeje cliffs) — clothing-optional and reached by steep path. Antequera (Anaga) — boat-only from San Andrés. El Médano's quieter east end. Roque Bermejo lighthouse cove. Playa de los Patos (north).

Etiquette and safety

Take everything you bring back. Several hidden beaches have strong currents — swim only where you can clearly see the bottom. The walk back is usually harder than the walk in — leave water and a torch for late returns.
