The full review
The Gran Hotel Taoro originally opened in 1892 as the first grand hotel in the Canary Islands, hosting royalty and European aristocracy during Puerto de la Cruz's Belle Époque golden age. After years of closure it has been painstakingly restored to operate as a luxury hotel and congress venue. The clifftop setting above the town offers views over the rooftops of Puerto de la Cruz to the Atlantic that are incomparable in the north of the island. The architecture — white neoclassical facade, colonnaded terraces, formal gardens — has been precisely preserved. The spa, pools, and several restaurants bring it fully into the contemporary luxury conversation. For travellers interested in the history and culture of Tenerife, as well as genuine five-star comfort, this is the most compelling north-coast choice.
The island's most storied hotel, restored to glory — irreplaceable for the north coast.
